CAPABILITIES / FIVE DISCIPLINES

One coordinated workflow,
five connected disciplines.

Each capability feeds the next. Together, they form a single process — from existing conditions through construction. Datacon carries the information developed during planning and coordination into the field.

Framing

01 — SCAN → MODEL

Existing conditions verification

We capture existing site conditions through reality capture, laser scanning, and survey, then reconcile that information against the design intent. Discrepancies can be identified before they become field issues.

· Point-cloud capture & registration

· Scan-to-BIM reconciliation

· Tolerance & deviation reporting

· Foundation & podium verification before prefabrication

BIM model development

02 — FEDERATED

We develop federated, data-rich models structured for construction. The model brings together the information needed to support coordination, planning, quantities, and field execution.

· Discipline & trade modeling

· Model federation & standards

· Quantity & data extraction

· Model maintained through construction

03 — COORDINATED

Trade & system coordination

Building systems and trade scopes are coordinated in the model before installation. Coordination meetings use the model to identify conflicts, document decisions, and track issues through resolution.

· Clash detection & resolution

· Coordination workflow management

· Sign-off & issue tracking

Constructability review

04 — BUILDABLE

We build it

05 — PLAN → BUILD

Builder-led review of means, methods, sequencing. Design and field conditions are evaluated together so potential issues can be addressed while options remain open.

The coordinated model carries into construction, supporting procurement, sequencing, logistics, and field execution. The same information developed during preconstruction continues to guide decisions as the work is built.

· Procurement & scheduling

· Sequencing & logistics

· Field layout from the model

· Means & methods review

· Sequencing & phasing

· Design & field condition review

04
Validate

Verify existing site conditions and project realities.

Develop coordinated BIM models for execution.

Resolve trade and system conflicts early.

Confirm constructability before field execution.

MASS TIMBER

Applying the same workflow to prefabricated timber.

Mass timber panels and beams are fabricated off-site from the model, so coordination has to be complete before fabrication. Each discipline above applies directly: site conditions verified against the model, openings and penetrations coordinated before panels are cut, and sequencing aligned with the manufacturer's delivery and installation.

· Podium & foundation scan before fabrication

· MEP penetrations resolved in the model

· Shop drawing review with the manufacturer

· Delivery & crane sequencing

THE RESULT

Challenges identified early — when decisions are less costly and solutions are more effective. Information developed in the model carries into the field.
